Fashion Starlet: Alexa Chung


British television personality/model Alexa Chung at the Whitney Museum Fall Gala wearing Versace. The stylista is known for her play of garments of high price designers of Chanel to low price point retailers as Topshop and H&M that distinguish her looks from many other celebs. The London beauty insist that her natural style won't be influenced to drastically by her New York City environment in which she recently moved too for upcoming ventures in her career. Known as Vogue's "It" girl for her play of fashion she dismisses it as " something hard to live up too." After modeling for four years she gave it up in pursuit of a fashion journalism career instead. In June 2009 she became one of British Vogue's contributing editors.

With the invention of the knitted "wrap dress" that sky rocketed her fashion career into the hangers of every women's closet, Diane Von Furstenberg has been one of the most inspiration designers since the likes of CoCo Chanel, and Estee Lauder . Born in Europe, the Parisian inspired designer had her start in the fashion industry with just a dream of designing for everyday women and a suit case full of her collection when she walked into the office of Vogue to showcase her talent. With criticism and with a muster of hope in 1970 she started her line Diane Von Furstenberg with a 300,000 dollar bugdet that eventually over time multipled into a million dollar company with multiple lisencing in luggage, home decor, cosmetics, and sportswear. " I have yet to meet a woman that wasn't strong. They don't exist." she stated as her mission for her designs. With her signature prints along with soft silhouettes, blends of textures, and play of colors , the designer makes it known that she is a designer for women that want to "feel like women". In the designers recent Spring 2010 collection, she folics in a play of knitted executions with pops of greens, with neutral tones of black mixed in. The designer has continued to become a continual favorite for many women and she will forever be known for her " dress" that set her mark as being the master of prints.
